Preseason Latest: Reports, Reaction and Highlights as Teams Prepare for the 2022-2023 Campaign

With the 2022/2023 EPL season already here, teams are looking to start fresh after making key changes in their squads ahead of their upcoming campaign. Here are the latest preseason reactions, reports and highlights with collaboration with Vwin as teams prepare for their 2022/2023 EPL campaign.

A Fresh Start for Chelsea in Todd Boehly’s Era

There’s been some uncertainty surrounding the Blues preparing for their 2022/2023 campaign. The sanctions put on Chelsea’s previous owner Roman Abramovich set them back in their planning, with key defenders like Andreas Christensen and Antonia Rudiger walking away for nothing and striker Romelu Lukaku returning to Inter on loan.

Although Chelsea managed to sign Kalidou Koulibaly and Raheem Sterling, they were frustrated during the transfer window by Barcelona and found it hard to get their priority targets. Manager Thomas Tuchel has prioritized the team’s backline as the first place for Todd Boehly to fix after losing two senior players. Boehly has already signed Aston Villa’s Wonderkid Carney Chukwuemeka, a well-trained midfielder who’s calm and collected while gliding across the pitch.

Arsenal’s Triple Fitness Boost Before Meeting Crystal Palace

This week, Mikel Arteta delivered his latest team injury news before their EPL opener against Crystal Palace. Before the Spaniard spoke to the media during the pre-match conference in London, it was rumored that Arsenal would be playing without midfielder Emile Smith Rowe at Selhurst Park due to a groin issue.

With Kieran Tierney playing for just 30 minutes during the team’s preseason and Takehiro Tomiyasu not featuring at all together with Fabio Viera, the trio is considered doubtful for the London derby. However, Arteta has hinted that the trio is available for selection as they come from an unscathed training session. The three will boost the team’s fitness, but the coach is keen to avoid adding more injuries as he begins their 2022/2023 campaign.

Cristiano Ronaldo Continues Training as Martial is Ruled out of Man-United’s Opener

Want-away Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has returned to training with his teammates days ahead of their EPL opener against Brighton at home this weekend. The 37-year-old came under strong criticism this week after leaving the stadium during their Sunday preseason game.

Cristiano was captured training at the team’s Carrington training base on Thursday, leaving coach Ten Hag with a big decision on his hands. However, whether he starts during the Red Devils’ debut match or not, Ronaldo hopes to leave Old Trafford soon.

West Ham performs fairly in the preseason ahead of Mancity’s opener

West Ham is on the countdown to start their 2022/2023 EPL campaign that kicks off at the London Stadium against Manchester City. The Hammers played seven friendly matches during their preseason tour, defeating them only once. However, David Moyes only recorded two victories and recorded four draws in the remaining games.
The team’s wins came against League One team Ipswich town and Swiss outfit Servette while losing against Europa League Champions Rangers. However, Manchester City has won five out of their last seven games with West Ham, despite being held to a 2-2 draw in this venue last May. West Ham might be looking to repeat their last results as Manchester City hasn’t tasted defeat in their last 18 EPL away games.
