Alvin Kamara Dashes into the Record Books as the New Orleans Saints Become Playoff Bound

The New Orleans Saints sought a 33-52 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Christmas day. In an outpouring of scoring from the Saints offense, despite Quarterback Drew Brees throwing two interceptions and finishing touchdownless. Running Back Alvin Kamara ran away from the Vikings defense scoring an outrageous six touchdowns on 22 carries, totaling 155 rushing yards with a 7.0 yards-per-carry average. Tying the NFL record for the most rushing touchdowns in a game with Ernie Nevers back in 1929. Kamara became one of only four players to ever score six times in a game in NFL history.

An important win for the Saints, making them NFC Champions for the fourth straight season. Improving the team's record to 11-4, notching a playoff spot. As the Saints try to push on for a run to the Super Bowl with a healthy Drew Brees, despite a struggling performance. Having a healthy Quarterback is huge, especially heading into the postseason. In the most important time of the season. The Saints snapped a two-game losing streak with this victory. A for sure confidence booster in a dominant performance.

Alvin Kamara credited his offensive line saying "It's crazy. The O-line did a great job; I really didn't have to do too much.” via ESPN. The Saints have made it to the playoffs each season since drafting Kamara in 2017 out of the University of Tennessee. Kamara is having an All-Pro season posting 932 rushing yards, tied with the league-high 16 rushing touchdowns on 5.0 yards-per-carry, through 15 games with only one game remaining. Week in and week out Kamara proves to be one of the elite backs in the league.

The next step for the Saints is getting over the hump in the playoffs. Seemingly year after year the Saints go out on heartbreaks, as they have been unable to reach a Super Bowl appearance since 2010. In which this is potentially Drew Brees’ last season in the league. The time is now or never for New Orleans.
