The Charlotte Hornets Bridge to Early Season Success

The Charlotte Hornets have gotten off to an Eastern Conference second best 5-2 start. Emerging as the league’s highest scoring offense to begin this season. The best start under fourth year head coach James Borrego. Led by forward Miles Bridges, as he is having a breakout start. Becoming Charlotte’s highest scorer this season, including three 30-point performances. One of them came against the Brooklyn Nets. where Bridges dominated, posting 32 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 steals in a 111-95 home victory.

In 2020, Rookie of The Year Winner LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges fueled off of each other. Especially on fast breaks, Ball’s court vision and Bridges’ athleticism led to a lot of points. In a highlight reel season, Charlotte struggled staying competitive last season. This season is a complete turnaround but with the same great connection between the two.

Miles Bridges is shooting the best this season than ever before, developing into a more confident shooter. Bridges is attempting more three-point shots this season. Knocking down %37 percent of his deep balls. In previous years, getting to the basket has been a strong suit for Bridges. With a 6’7” frame Bridges scores a majority of his points in the paint. Now Bridges has risen as a dual threat scorer becoming more difficult to defend against. Charlotte has a lineup with great three-point shooters such as Kelly Oubre Jr., Gordon Hayward, LaMelo Ball, Terry Rozier, and P. J. Washington off the bench. Spacing the floor with Miles Bridges attacking the basket has opened the perimeter more for three-point shots. Subsequently, Charlotte has made the most three pointers this season.

The league recognized Miles Bridges’ incredible performances, awarding him as the Eastern Conference Player of The Week. After leading Charlotte to a 3-0 start, for the first time in franchise history. Including a 20-point plus comeback against the Indiana Pacers in the season opener. If Bridges continues to play strong he will win Most Improved Player. Especially if Charlotte wins more games, reaching the top of the weaker Eastern Conference. The Bridges and LaMelo Ball combination has become a fan favorite, keep on buzzing Charlotte.
