#3 When Not to Jump - Top 10 Most Embarrassing NFL Moments

Placekickers in professional football rarely endure any contact on the field and are there just to conduct kickoffs and attempt field goals and extra points. Injuries to kickers usually come from the motion of kicking the ball or perhaps during practices. But there was a time when one kicker had a pretty severe injury…by his own doing. That player was Bill Gramatica and in December 2001 he was the kicker for the Arizona Cardinals. On December 15 his team was playing the New York Giants and on a 42-yard field goal attempt that Gramatica put through the uprights, he jumped up to celebrate only to come down completely wrong on his leg which tore his ACL and it was season over.

Gramatica later made light of the attempt:

"My jump was excellent. It was my landing I needed to work on. It was funny. It was part of my career. I talk about it all the time. You have to laugh about it."
